About Me
Hi my name is Leah M. Friedman. I am a researcher and dance artist based in Tempe, AZ, and a first-year doctoral student in the Human and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology (HSD) program at Arizona State University. Prior to moving to Arizona in August 2022, I worked with the Center for Integrative Research in the Computing and Learning Sciences (CIRCLS) and as a professional dancer in Philadelphia, PA.
Broadly, as an artist and researcher, I like thinking about how people imagine the future and enjoy facilitating links between the physical, social, and technological. As a PhD student, I am particularly interested in how we can use imaginaries of the future and artistic methods to design technology that is more ethical and responsIble. I am also interested in how technologies embed and reinforce existing power structures, and how technology can be co-created with communities to question those power structures.
